Base values: Bells 9 · Hearts 10 · Leaves 11 · Acorns 12 · Grand 24. Grand has at most 4 matadors (the 4 Unters).
Card Values
120 points total. The declarer needs at least 61 to win.
| Card | Points |
|---|---|
| Daus | 11 |
| Zehn | 10 |
| König | 4 |
| Ober | 3 |
| Unter | 2 |
| 9 · 8 · 7 | 0 |
Unters are always the four highest trumps: Acorns > Leaves > Hearts > Bells — regardless of the trump suit.
Null Game Values (fixed)
Null games have fixed values — independent of matadors or multiplier.
| Game Type | Value |
|---|---|
| Null | 23 |
| Null Hand | 35 |
| Null Ouvert | 46 |
| Null Ouvert Hand | 59 |
Levels — Raising the Multiplier
Each level adds +1 to the multiplier. Kontra and Re double the game value instead.
How to calculate game value in Skat?
The game value follows a simple formula: Base value × Multiplier. The base value depends on the game type — Diamonds 9, Hearts 10, Spades 11, Clubs 12, Grand 24. The multiplier comes from matadors + 1 (for the game itself) + any additional levels like Hand, Schneider, or Schwarz.
Example: You play Clubs (base 12), hold the Club and Spade Jack (with 2 matadors), and make Schneider. Multiplier = 2 + 1 (game) + 1 (Schneider) = 4. Game value = 12 × 4 = 48 points.
What are matadors (Spitzen) in Skat?
Matadors are the consecutive highest trumps in your hand, starting with the Jack of Clubs. If you hold it, you count "with 1" — plus every further Jack or trump without a gap. If you lack it, you count "without 1" — continuing for every missing trump until the first gap. The number of matadors directly determines the game value multiplier.
Matadors explained in detail →How many points do you need in Skat?
The declarer needs at least 61 of 120 card points — more than half. Holding exactly 60 loses. For Schneider, the declarer needs at least 90 (opponents score at most 30). Schwarz means winning all 10 tricks. In Null the goal is reversed: the declarer must take no tricks at all.
